ACADEMIC POLICIES
General Interest Students
General Interest students may attend any designated
general interest courses as long as they have successfully completed the appropriate prerequisites
for the course, if applicable.
General Interest students
who wish to enrol in a certificate or diploma program may do so at
any time as long as they have met the academic requirements of the program
in which they would like to enroll. For more information, please see the Academic Requirements section of our website.
Course Exemptions
Some students may be eligible for course exemptions
from one or more courses in a program. Exemptions are only granted for
courses that were attended before the student first enrolled in the
program. In order to qualify as exemptions, the course must be similar to or of greater length and depth than the course for which the student is applying for the exemption. The decision regarding the acceptability of previously attended
courses as exemptions is under the sole discretion of the program director.
Course exemptions are only allowed for the following subjects: Chemistry,
Anatomy and Physiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Aromatherapy, Nutrition and Psychology. In order to be eligible for an exemption, students must provide official transcripts from the school where they attended the course.
Marks
Upon completion of any course, students will be awarded a final mark or other designation that reflects their final standing in the course as follows:
- For courses for which they have completed the academic requirements for which it is policy to award a final mark, they will be given a percentage mark out of 100 that reflects their final standing in the course.
- For courses for which they have completed the academic requirements for which it is not policy to award a final mark, they will be given a 'Pass" designation.
- For courses for which they have not completed the academic requirements, they will be given an "Incomplete" designation.
Students will be given the opportunity to view all quizzes and exams once they have been marked, but the quizzes and exams remain the property of Living Earth School and must be returned. If a student wishes to keep a record of the individual marks they receive for each quiz and exam, it is their responsibility to record this information when it is provided. All assignments will be returned to the students once they have been marked.
Exam Rewrites
Students who fail to achieve a minimum passing grade on the final exam
and/or as a final mark for any course may be required to make arrangements
to improve their academic standing in the course. Students will be granted
one opportunity to rewrite the final exam for the course. If a student
is unable to raise their final mark for any course sufficiently to meet
the minimum academic requirements for the course after rewriting the final
exam, they may be required to repeat the course.
The
decision to require a student to rewrite a final exam or repeat a course
is under the sole discretion of the program director.
Students that are required to rewrite the final exam

the program director. An administration fee of $25 will be charged for
any exam rewrite that must be scheduled outside of normal class time.
